Warrant Arrest
On Friday morning the Halton Regional Police Service arrested a 36 year old male on the strength of a warrant held by our police service. The warrant was in relation to the fraudulent use of a credit card in the amount of $40, 000. The accused was transported to STPS headquarters where he was processed and later released on an Undertaking with conditions. ST23016003
Gas Drive Off
On Thursday evening a male suspect attended a local gas station and pumped $95 of gas into a red Ford Mustang. The suspect then left the gas bar after making no attempts to pay. Further investigation revealed this vehicle has been involved in similar occurrences in the Hamilton and York regions. Mischief/ Vehicle Entry
Sometime overnight on Wednesday September 6th, an unknown person smashed the window to a City vehicle that was parked in a downtown parking lot. Scam Alert
A St. Thomas resident is out $2200 after falling victim a scam. The resident received a phone call from someone claiming to work for Microsoft. The scammer directed the victim to purchase several Apple gift cards and to provide the security codes on the back to the scammer. The victim complied with the direction and later realized it was a scam. The St. Thomas Police Service reminds you to speak with your family and friends about the prevalence of scams. If someone is directing you to purchase any type of gift card, regardless of the reason, STOP and phone your financial institution or the police. ST23016043
Mischief/ Assault
Late on Friday afternoon an altercation took place between strangers at a local gas station. The incident started when an older male scolded a child unrelated to him regarding the child’s use of the squeegee on their mother’s vehicle. The victim stepped in and directed the older male to leave the child alone. The older male then turned his attention on the victim ultimately assaulting him, threatening him, and smashing a window out to his vehicle. The victim fled in his vehicle and reported the incident to police. As a result, a 75 year old St. Thomas man is charged with Assault, Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm, and Mischief Under $5000. On Saturday the accused turned himself in at STPS headquarters. He was processed and later released on an Undertaking with conditions. ST23016047.
Disturbance
During the early morning hours on Saturday, police attended an address in the downtown core for reports of two males bleeding from the head. Police located the injured parties and an ambulance was called to the scene. With the assistance of video, police determined there was a physical altercation involving several parties however; no charges are being laid due to the lack of cooperation from the victim(s). Theft of Licence Plates x 2
Sometime overnight on Friday, two separate victims had their licence plates stolen from their vehicles. Both vehicles were parked in residential areas in the south end of the City.
While there aren’t any foul-proof methods to eliminate the risk of being victimized, there are some strategies to consider to reduce your risk. Break and Enter
Police are investigating after a storage trailer was broken into overnight on Friday. The trailer was parked in a parking lot on Wellington St. The suspect(s) took several sheets of plywood from the trailer. Shoplift
Police are seeking the assistance from the community in identifying the suspect in a shoplifting incident that occurred at a St. Thomas business on Saturday morning. The individual pictured below was captured on store surveillance filling a cart with more than $500 of merchandise and leaving the store without making any attempt to pay. Found Property
Early on Saturday evening police were called to a business near the downtown core for reports for a garbage enclosure being broken into and property left behind. Police attended and located a transmission flusher, worth approximately $1000. Bail Violations
On Saturday evening police were called to an address near the downtown core for reports of a male party breaching conditions of his release. The male party had attended an address that he is not to attend as per his court release. The 32 year old St Thomas male was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters to be held for court. ST23016105.
Warrant Arrest
Early on Sunday morning police were called to the hospital for reports of an aggressive person refusing to leave after being discharged. Police attended and located a youth, well-known to police. A query of the youth revealed they are currently wanted on two separate warrants for the following offences: Assault x 2, Mischief Under $5000, Unlawfully in a Dwelling, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and Fail to Stop for Police. The youth was arrested on the strength of the warrants and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and lodged in cells for court. ST23016129.
