Theft
52 year old Shawn Hurl, 40 year old Leila Oosterhoff and 41 year old Nicholas Thiessen are wanted by STPS. All three parties have been charged with one count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 after police were called to investigate the theft of A package from an address on the City’s west side. The incident was captured on video surveillance and helped officers positively identify the parties involved. ST23014007
Impaired – Care and Control
A 53 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Saturday August 5th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival, police located the individual in question in their vehicle. The engine was running and the driver was asleep at the wheel. Responding officers were able to wake the driver and turn the engine off. Once awake, officers believed the driver to be showing signs of impairment. The driver failed roadside screening and was subsequently arrested and charged with one count Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Plus 80. The 53 year old was transported to police headquarters where additional testing confirmed impairment. Once processed, the Aylmer resident was released on an undertaking with a future court date. Arrested
A 55 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday August 7th 2023, while on a call for service STPS encountered the 55 year old who was known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant from 2022. The St. Thomas resident was arrested on the charges of one count Break and Enter and one count Theft under $5000. While being processed at police headquarters the 55 year old was found to be in possession of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine and was subsequently charged with one count Possession of a Controlled Substance. A 19 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday August 7th 2023, the 19 year old attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for five highway traffic act violations. The St. Thomas resident was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23013997
A 30 year old Central Elgin resident has been arrested. On Sunday August 7th 2023, STPS were notified by Elgin OPP who had the resident in their custody. St. Thomas police attended and processed the outstanding warrant for one count Breach of Probation. The 30 year old was released on an appearance notice. ST23014015
Mischief
On Monday August 8th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the report of damage to an address on Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, police learned the front window of the home had been hit with a suspected ball bearing. No injuries were reported. ST23014025
Assault with a weapon
A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and a 16 year old youth is wanted by police. On Sunday August 7th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to an altercation in progress at a downtown location. Upon arrival and through investigation, police formed grounds to charge the 40 year old with one count Assault with a Weapon and one count Uttering Threats. The 40 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. A 16 year old youth, involved in the altercation is wanted by police for one count Assault with a Weapon. ST23014002
