Vehicle Entries
A homeowner on Erie Street called police to report that their vehicle had been entered sometime in the overnight hours of Saturday May 27th, 2023. Reported stolen was some cash, loose change and CD’s. Police later received an email from a homeowner in the same area who wish to report the exterior camera at their residence captured an unknown person trying to enter vehicles during the same time reported by the first homeowner. Through investigation and review of the provided surveillance video, the unknown suspect is described as wearing a construction style coat, camouflaged pants and adidas sneakers. A speaker system valued at $50 has been reported stolen from a vehicle on Metcalfe Street. On Sunday May 28th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to investigate a vehicle entry that occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. while the vehicle owner was at work. Police are reviewing video surveillance and continue to investigate. ST23009137
Vehicle windows smashed
A homeowner on Margaret Street called police to report an incident that occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday May 28th, 2023. Through investigation it was learned that a vehicle had 3 of its windows smashed. The homeowner reports hearing three loud bangs and a vehicle speeding away. Police are canvassing the area for video surveillance and continue to investigate. ST23009087
In a similar incident, St. Thomas police were called to investigate after a vehicle owner on Stanley Street contacted police to report the windows of their truck had been smashed out sometime in the overnight hours of May 27th, 2023. Police are continuing to investigate. ST23009094
Arrested
A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday May 29th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to a Talbot Street address in regard to an unruly individual. Upon arrival, police located a 34 year old St. Thomas resident known to be wanted for uttering threats after an incident dating back to February 2023. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. ST23009141
A 43 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday May 29th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to a Princess Avenue address to investigate a theft that had occurred. Upon arrival, police located a 43 year old St. Thomas residence known to be wanted on several charges from multiple incidents, earlier this year. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. ST23009143
Theft – flight from police
On Sunday May 28th, 2023 just after 5 p.m. St. Thomas police were called to a retail store on Edward Street after a store employee reported a theft that had just occurred. Upon arrival, the vehicles and suspects involved had made their way to a second retail location and were still on site. Police attempted to stop one of vehicles, a white Jeep Gladiator, however it left the area at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic, fleeing north of the city. A second vehicle, a silver Toyota Highlander was also seen fleeing the area at the same time. Police notified neighbouring police services and are continuing to investigate. ST23009120
R.I.D.E
No infractions were reported after St. Thomas Police conducted a RIDE program in the city on Monday May 29th, 2023. A total of 45 vehicles were stopped with all drivers sober and wearing their seatbelts. ST23009142
