St. Thomas Police respond to several vehicle entries

A resident on Locust Street reports having their vehicle entered and wallet stolen in the overnight hours of April 25th, 2023. The victims wallet contained personal identification and bank cards. STPS are investigating the use of the victims debit card at various locations throughout the city. ST23006792

A resident on Barnes Street contacted St. Thomas Police to report their vehicle being entered on both April 24th and April 25th, 2023. Reported stolen are 2 pairs of designer sunglasses. ST23006815

Theft

2 bottles of liquor have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. St. Thomas Police were called to investigate after being contacted by an employee who wished to report a person wearing a black coat and ball cap, jeans and black and white shoes was observed entering the store, selecting the two bottles of liquor and then leaving, making no attempt to pay. Police are reviewing video surveillance to identify the suspect. ST23006801

An employee’s bike has been stolen from a retail store at 1063 Talbot Street. The employee contacted St. Thomas Police after riding their bike to work around 4:45 p.m. on April 25th 2023 to then find it gone when they were done work for the night. Fraud

A local business owner is out $4,000 after a recent Apple gift card scam. The victim attended police headquarters on Tuesday April 25th, 2023 to report the incident. It was learned that the business owner was contacted via a social media platform by someone they believed to a reputable company, looking to partner with them. The victim accepted and deposited cheques from the company and then purchased and sent the Apple gift cards, as instructed. The victim learned that the cheques could not be processed and all gift cards had been redeemed. Police are continuing to investigate. ST23006810

Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere

St. Thomas Police are happy to report that there were no infractions during a RIDE spot check last night (April 25th, 2023). STPS thank our community for continuing to drive sober, planning ahead and keeping our community safe. ST23006827

Failure to comply/Warrant Arrest

A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with two counts Failure to Comply with Probation Order after St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a suspicious person at an address on Ross Street yesterday afternoon (April 25th, 2023). Upon arrival, STPS located an individual known to them to have an outstanding probation warrant. As a result, they were placed under arrest, processed and released on an appear notice.
