Media Release Thursday April 13th 2023

Break and Enter

On Tuesday April 11th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a break and enter that had occurred at the Railway Heritage Building on Moore Street. Through investigation it was learned that the door had been forced open and entry was gained. Police are reviewing video surveillance and are continuing to investigate. ST23005839

RIDE

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, Officers on community patrol conducted a RIDE spot check.  Approximately 53 vehicles were stopped.  One Alcohol Screening Device was administered and the driver registered a pass. ST23005862

Mischief

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to investigate damage to a vehicle in a south side neighbourhood. Through investigation it was learned that the window of a vehicle had been smashed. A ball bearing was located and identified as the source of the damage. Police are continuing to investigate. Vehicle Entries 

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a vehicle entry in a north side neighbourhood that had occurred sometime between the hours of 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Reported stolen is the victims identification, debit and credit cards and multiple gift cards. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST23005870

On Wednesday April 12th, 2023, while investigating the vehicle entry noted above, St. Thomas Police were flagged down by a neighbour in the same area to investigate an additional vehicle entry. Reported stolen were multiple gift cards, identification and cash. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST23005873

St. Thomas Police wish to remind residents to “Lock it or Lose it”. Before turning in for the night, ensure your vehicle and premises are secured and locked to avoid becoming a victim of property theft or vehicle entry.

Warrants

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, Officers on community patrol were dealing with an individual on an unrelated matter when it was learned there was a warrant for arrest for 1 count Theft under $5,000 and 1 count Breach of Probation, stemming from an incident in 2022. As such, a 44 year old St. Thomas male was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released by the courts. ST23005879

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, while dealing with the individual noted above, Officers were dealing with a female known to them to have an outstanding warrant with our service for 1 count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and 1 Count Use Forged Documents. The 35 year old St. Thomas female was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters where she was processed and released by the courts. ST23005880

Theft

On Wednesday April 12th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to a local retail store to investigate the theft of shoes. It was learned the suspect had been concealing items while shopping before leaving the store making no attempt to pay. Upon arrival, STPS were able to locate the suspect matching the description given by store staff, a short distance away. As a result, a 32 year old St. Thomas female was arrested and charged with 1 count Theft under $5,000. She was transported to Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on an undertaking. St23005906
