Traffic Complaint
On December 29, 2022, shortly after midnight officers of the St. Thomas Police Service responded to two citizen complaints of erratic driving by a single motor vehicle. The complaints involved failing to remain at the scene of a collision and a possible impaired driver in the area of the Hwy 3 onramp to First Avenue. Officers located the vehicle in question on Balaclava Street where there was an attempt to stop the motor vehicle. The motor vehicle failed to stop for police and due to public safety, police disengaged. A short time later, the same motor vehicle was located on Talbot Street where the driver had lost control, striking a fixed object, disabling the vehicle. The driver was arrested a short distance away.
The St. Thomas Police Service has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has commenced an investigation pursuant to their mandate. As a result, the St. Thomas Police Service will not be able to provide any further information. As such, all media inquiries can be directed to the Special Investigations Unit.
