STPS Media Release- September 21, 2024

Break and Enter:

In the early morning hours of September 20th, 2024, the St. Thomas Police responded to Peavey Mart where an employee determined that the outdoor security cable had been cut and multiple utility carts had been stolen. Police have reviewed all available video and continue to investigate. (ST24016930)

Warrant Arrest:

A 50-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. The individual turned themselves into the St. Thomas Police on an outstanding warrant relating to a fraud investigation. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. (ST24016945)

Fraud:

The St. Thomas Police are investigating a fraud. The victim in this matter was coerced into providing personal and financial information to numerous online accounts not known to the victim. Police encourage everyone to exercise extreme caution before providing personal or financial information over the internet. Police continue to investigate this matter. (ST24016946)

Assault with a weapon:

A 39-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with assault with a weapon after police were called to investigate a report of an individual who had been shot with a pellet gun. The accused and victim are known to each other and victim suffered only minor injuries. The accused was arrested, and a search warrant was executed for public safety and evidentiary purposes. Warrant Arrest:

A 30-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. The individual turned themselves into the St. Thomas Police on an outstanding warrant relating to an assault investigation. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. (ST24016991)

Impaired:

The St. Thomas Police were alerted to a possible impaired driver who left a downtown restaurant. Officers quickly located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. A roadside screening device was administered which registered a “fail”. The individual was arrested, and further testing resulted in the individual being charged with one count Operation while Impaired plus 80. The 57-year-old was released on an appearance notice with a future court date, their license suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded. (ST24017000)
