A 23-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrest and charged with shoplifting after an incident at a retail store in the 1063 Talbot Street business park. This person attempted to steal $63.00 worth of non-essential items. As a result, the suspect was later released with a future court date and the items were returned to the store. ST23011055
Two suspects broke into the laundry room at a north end apartment building and stole coins from machines. Two individuals had a key to enter the laundry room and once inside, damaged coin machines and stole money. A downtown shelter turned over an air soft handgun to police for public safety reasons. Air soft handguns often look very similar to actual firearms and are a threat to public safety. 42-year-old Kevin Ashford was arrested and charged for failing to abide by release conditions stemming from a previous criminal charge. The accused was previously charged with a criminal offence and released with a curfew imposed and he was located by police out beyond that curfew. A 22-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats as a result of an overnight incident. This person was held in police custody and later released by the courts with a new court date and conditions. No serious injuries were sustained as a result of the assault.
42-year-old Christopher Menard turned himself in on the strength of a St. Thomas Police arrest warrant. The warrant was a result of a previous fraud investigation. The accused was released by police with a future court date and conditions.
