St. Thomas Police Service Surpasses 2023’s Calls for Service

As of this morning, Monday December 16th 2024, the St. Thomas Police Service has exceeded last year’s calls for service, responding to 22,650 calls for services and incidents in our city. A comparison of this date and time in 2023, recorded 22,098 calls for service.

At this pace, the St. Thomas Police Service is on track to experience a record-breaking year of incidents requiring a police response.

A quick comparison of the total incidents recorded on December 31st at 11:59 pm in years past show:

  • 2023: 22,796 incidents
  • 2022: 20,682 incidents
  • 2021: 21,924 incidents
  • 2020: 22,173 incidents

As the growth of our City continues to rise, there are increased needs for police responses.  These evolving times present significant public safety challenges and we are consistently adjusting our resources and capabilities to provide superior policing services.  Many of the incidents that we attend require initial in-person responses and multi-layered follow up strategies.

Our teams remain dedicated to serving their community.  All STPS members play a vital role in delivering policing services to our deserved community.
