St. Thomas Police Service: Disposal Protocol for Firearms, Knives, and Ammunition
The St. Thomas Police Service is committed to ensuring the responsible handling and disposal of firearms, knives, and ammunition. If you have any of these items that you wish to surrender for destruction, we are here to help.
To safely hand in firearms, knives, or ammunition for destruction, please follow these important steps:
- Safe Transport: Prioritize safety by ensuring that all firearms, knives, and ammunition are unloaded as well as safely and lawfully stored during transport. Place them securely in a case or container to prevent accidents.
- Arrival at Police Headquarters: Upon arrival at St. Thomas Police Service headquarters, leave all items in your vehicle and proceed to the building and speak with our business office.
- Assistance from an Officer: Our dedicated team will dispatch an officer to retrieve the surrendered items from your vehicle. Please do not bring the items into the building yourself for safety reasons.
Remember, your cooperation is crucial to maintaining a safe environment for everyone in our community. Together, we can prevent potential accidents and avoid unnecessary safety risks
