Warrant Arrests
A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday June 25th 2024, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation stemming from an incident on June 20th. The 39 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24010737
A 53 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Tuesday June 25th 2024, St. Thomas police were contacted by Aylmer police who had the individual in custody on the strength of a warrant held by our service for Breach of Probation. The individual was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24010781
Theft
St. Thomas police are currently investigating the theft of copper wire. On Tuesday June 25th 2024, police were contacted by an employee of a local home builder who wished to report that sometime in the overnight hours of June 22nd, copper wire from four new development lots had been stolen. No other damage to the area or property was reported. This remains under investigation. ST24010703
A 19 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police after being identified as the person responsible for a shoplifting incident at a Talbot Street retail store. On Tuesday June 25th 2024, officers were called to the store to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the store and leaving with a pair of shoes. Police reviewed the available CCTV and have charged the 19 year old with Theft under $5,000. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24010772
21 year old Nicholas Derbowka and 31 year old Shaylee Murphy are wanted by police. Both parties have been charged with one count of theft under $5000 after being identified as the individuals responsible for stealing an E-Bike that was secured to an address on Southwick Street. Debrowka has been additionally charged with one count of Fail to Comply with Probation. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24010751
Break and Enter
A dark blue and black Triumph Ravine bicycle has been reported stolen. On Tuesday June 25th 2024, the owner of the bike attended police headquarters to reported that sometime in the overnight hours their shed had been entered and the bicycle stolen. This remains under investigation. ST24010739
Mischief
Approximately $700 in damage to the entrance of a business on Talbot Street has been reported to police. On Tuesday June 25th 2024. STPS were called to the 400 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of an unknown person attended the business and throwing a rock at the window. Police are reviewing available video surveillance in the area as they continue to investigate. ST24010747
Intimate Partner Violence
A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police responded to a disturbance on the west end of the city. Through investigation, officers learned an verbal argument between two individuals known to each other had escalated and turned physical, resulting in minor injuries. As a result, a 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of Assault and one count of Fail to Comply with Probation. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24010764
