Warrant
A 38 year old London resident has been arrested. On Tuesday August 1st 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the report of an unwanted party at an area in the north end of the city. Upon arrival, police located the individual who was wanted by London Police Service on an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000. The 38 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters to be processed and released by LPS. ST23013636
Vehicle Entry
Several business cheques have been reported stolen after a vehicle entry was reported to STPS. On Tuesday August 1st 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the report of the stolen cheques from a vehicle parked on Metcalfe Street. Through investigation police learned the vehicle had been entered on the 24th of July, the cheques taken and had since been cashed. This remains under investigation. ST23013639
Assault
A 41 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday August 1st 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate an incident where two parties, known to each other were involved in an altercation. Through investigation and review of available CCTV, the 41 year old was arrested and charged with one count of Assault. The St. Thomas resident was transported to police headquarters to be processed and was released on undertaking with conditions. ST23013640
Stolen Rental Vehicle
St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of a stolen rental vehicle. On Tuesday August 1st 2023, STPS were contacted by a local car rental company who wished to report a vehicle, rented May 23rd 2023 had failed to be returned. It was learned that a grey 2023 Ford F150 pick up truck had been rented for a term of 30 days. The 30 day rental was paid in full, however the rental agreement has expired and the vehicle has not been returned. After several unsuccessful attempts by the rental company to repossess the vehicle, police were called to assist. This remains under investigation. ST23013643
Failure to comply
A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with one count Failure to Comply with Probation Order. Officers on community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant. The 37 year was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST23013697
Fraud
Approximately $500 in fraudulent charges and a cell phone scam have been reported to police. On Tuesday August 1st 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the report of a cell phone scam that had left the victims’ phones unusable. Through investigation it was learned the victims has received three identical text messages from what they believed to be their service provider. The link sent was activated and shortly after the victims lost access to their phones. Over the course of several days, the victims were communicating in person with the service provider to correct the issue at which time they learned their phones had been reported stolen and two additional phones had been purchased, activated and added to the their existing account.
