Break and enter
Two iPads and approximately $70 in cash has been reported stolen from a business on Talbot Street. On Monday September 25th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called by the business owner who reported that sometime between Thursday September 21st and Monday September 25th, unknown suspect(s) gained entry through the window of the building, stealing the items. A red Makita construction drill, valued at $300 has been reported stolen from a house under construction in a south end, new home development. STPS were contacted by staff who reported that sometime in the overnight hours of the 24th, a home under construction was entered and the drill taken. ST23017092
Crypto Fraud
A St. Thomas resident is out approximately $14,000.00 after a crypto currency scam that occurred through the ‘What’s Up’ App. The victim responded to a work from home recruitment style advertisement, was provided training and then, over the course of several days and transaction requests, the victim was out of the money and realized they had been scammed. Assault
St. Thomas police are currently investigating an assault that occurred in Jonas Park on Sunday September 24th 2023. On Monday, St. Thomas police were called concerning the assault of a 15 year old victim that was captured on ‘SnapChat’. The victim was treated for their injuries at the hospital. Police have identified the parties involved and continue to investigate. ST23017081
Theft
52 year old Loretta Havell has been arrested. While on an unrelated call for service at a retail store on Talbot Street, St. Thomas police were notified that an unknown person had just left the store, failing to pay for a cart of various home goods. STPS located Havell in the parking lot, with the stolen goods and placed her under arrest. Havell was charged with Theft under $5,000, processed and released. All of the merchandise was returned to the store. ST23017112
