Break and Enter

A residential break and enter has been reported to police. On Sunday May 14th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to a home in a neighbourhood near the Elgin Centre to investigate a break and enter that had occurred. Through investigation it was learned that a shed on the property had been entered. Reported stolen was 2 bikes, a cordless drill and a nail gun. STPS are reviewing available video surveillance and continue to investigate. ST23008150

Theft

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been served a trespass notice after police were called to a local grocery store to investigate a theft that occurred. Upon arrival, a description of the suspect was given to police who were able to identify and locate the individual who was served with the notice and released. ST23008160

Arrested

A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested on an outstanding warrant with our service. On Monday May 15th 2023, officers of community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of the outstanding warrant for Theft under $5000 in relation to an incident in April. The 31 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an appearance notice. ST23008212

A 25 year old Hamilton resident has been arrested on the strength of a warrant held by our service for Failure to Comply with Release Order. On Monday May 15th 2023, STPS were contacted by OPP who were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they were made aware the warrant. OPP transported the 25 year old to police headquarters to be processed. The Hamilton resident was released on an appearance notice. ST23008254

Damage to vehicle

A vehicle parked downtown has been damaged. On Tuesday May 16th 2023, STPS were called by the vehicle owner who reported that their vehicle had had the window smashed, the interior dash has been damaged and the car had been vandalized with spray paint. Police are reviewing available video surveillance and continue to investigate. ST23008264
