Fraud arrest:
A 31 year old female turned herself in and was arrested for identity fraud and utter forged documents. She was processed and released with a court date and conditions. ST25001275 (ref ST24020755)
Fraud:
On Friday February 7th, 2025 the victim contacted police in regards to a scam that they had fallen victim to. In previous years the victim had received a virus on their computer and contacted a company to assist with the virus and unlocked their computer. Once again in 2023 the computer was locked and the victim contacted the same company and sent a large sum of money to unlock the computer. Again in 2025 the computer was locked and the individual was referred by the company to another person who advised that they would provide them a way to retain the money they had lost previously by having them log into their banking website. Money was then removed from accounts by the fraudsters. This incident is currently under investigation. (ST25002181)
Mischief:
In the early morning hours of Saturday February 8th, 2025 police were sent a online report of mischief (a broken window) to a business in the down town core. Police reviewed CCTV and viewed a female attend the business with a bat and smash a window. Police have a suspect identified and a warrant for arrest will be sought for the mischief to the business. Warrant Arrests:
A 27 year old female was arrested by Hamilton Police Service and brought back to St. Thomas to be processed for a bench warrant. The female was released with a future court date. (ST25002216)
A 34 year old female was arrested by OPP Elgin and brought to the St. Thomas Police Station to be held for court on a unendorsed bench warrant from 2021. The female will be seen by a judge this morning. (ST25002240)
