Mischief

St. Thomas police are currently investigating damage to an address on Southwick Street. On Friday September 6th 2024, officers were called to the address to investigate the incident that occurred on September 2nd. It was reported that an unknown person had attended the area, caused damage to the exterior camera system and to a fence on the property. This remains under investigation. ST24015928

A window at a downtown business has been smashed. On Sunday September 8th 2024, officers were called to the 600 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of an individual throwing a heavy object through a store front. Video of the incident was reviewed by STPS. The individual responsible, a 40 year old St. Thomas resident was located a short time later and subsequently charged with Mischief and Failure to Comply with Release Order. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed on the charges. ST24016062

A window in the 200 block of Talbot Street has been damaged. In the early morning hours of September 9th, police were called to the area to investigate the report of a suspicious person being observed and the window being broken. Entry to address was not gained. STPS are reviewing available video surveillance of the incident has they continue to investigate. ST24016095

Fraud Investigations 

A local business is out approximately $140,000. On Saturday September 7th 2024, the business owners contacted police after they were made aware of a fraudulent business vendor. It was reported that the vendor sent notification that their payment system and account information had changed, providing the new information to the local business. The vendor information was updated by the business. A short time later, the owners were made aware of several fraudulent transactions and reported the incident to police. This remains under investigation. ST24015970

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of unauthorized transactions. On Saturday September 7th 2024, STPS were called to investigate the report of a lost wallet being recovered by an unknown person and the bank cards in the wallet being used at a retail location in the city. Police are reviewing available video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24016016

Theft

Approximately $750 of property has been reported stolen from a vehicle. On Sunday September 8th 2024, police were called by the vehicle owner who wished to report that sometime in the overnight hours their vehicle, parked in the 300 block of Talbot Street had been damaged and entered. Fishing tackle, blankets and booster cables are among the property reported stolen. This remains under investigation. ST24015971

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store on Edward Street. On Saturday September 7th 2024, officers were called to the store for the report of two unknown individuals concealing merchandise and failing to pay. Video surveillance of the incident is being review as police continue to investigate. ST24016004

Obstruct Police/Warrant Arrest

A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday September 8th 2024, police were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they provided a false identity. Through investigation, officers learned the individual was wanted by our service on several outstanding warrants dating back to 2021. The 38 year old was charged with one count of Obstruct Police and transported to police headquarters to be processed on all outstanding charges. The individual was held in custody for a morning court appearance. ST24016084
