Media Release Monday September 23rd 2024

Break and Enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter that occurred from a retail store on Edward Street. On Friday September 20th 2024, STPS were called to the address to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the area and using bolt cutters to cut a chain that was securing property to the front of the store. A steel utility cart and two dump carts valued at approximate $800 were reported stolen. Officers are reviewing available video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24016930

A dismantled shed, valued at approximately $1,000 has been reported stolen. On Sunday September 22nd 2024, officers were called to an address on Currah Road to investigate the report of two trailers having the locks cut off and entered. The trailers were empty however, a dismantled shed on the property had been stolen. This remains under investigation. ST24017092

Theft

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred from a pet store on Talbot Street. On Sunday September 22nd, 2024 officers were called to the store to investigate the report of two unknown people attending the store and failing to pay for quantity of supplements valued at approximately $520. Police are reviewing available video surveillance of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24017041

On Sunday September 22nd, 2024 STPS were called to a grocery store to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the store and failing to pay for several grocery items. Video surveillance of the incident is currently being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST24017070

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

A vehicle, reported stolen from a business on Sunset Drive has been recovered. On Sunday September 22nd, 2024, STPS were called in regards to the theft that occurred at some point after 6 a.m. on Sunday. The business owner was notified by OPP that the vehicle had been stolen after Munsee Delaware Police had located the vehicle and taken two individuals into custody. ST24017080

Driving Offences

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Sunday September 22nd 2024, officers on community patrol observed the individual, known to them to be a prohibited driver, operating an E-Bike. A traffic stop was conducted and the 52 year old was charged with Operation while Prohibited and released on an appearance notice. ST24017100

Warrant Arrests 

A 33 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Sunday September 22nd 2024, STPS were notified by Aylmer police that the individual was in their custody on the strength of an outstanding probation warrant held by our service. The individual was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017058/7073

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday September 23rd 2024, officers on community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter, when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service stemming from an incident in June where they had been charged with Operation while Impaired. The 39 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24017124

A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday September 23rd 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on outstanding warrant with our service after they had been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Conditions in relation to the remote monitoring device assigned to them. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017130
