Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere 

A total of 361 drivers were spoken to during a RIDE program on Saturday night. (May 6th) Officers conducted the program throughout various areas in city. Four roadside screening tests were administered for alcohol with one driver registering a warning. ST23007484

Store front damage downtown

A downtown business has a broken store front window after an incident in the overnight hours of Saturday May 6th, 2023. An alert citizen notified police of the broken window while walking in the area on Sunday morning. Upon police arrival. the owners of the business were called and were able to secure the building. Video surveillance is being reviewed while police continue to investigate. ST23007578

Prohibited weapon seized

A 36 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested by St. Thomas Police on Sunday May 7th, 2023. Around 9:45 a.m. Police responded to the reports of a suspicious person in a parking garage downtown. STPS located the individual who, once identified was known to have an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000. While being searched, a prohibited knife was found. The 36 year old was additionally charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and released on an undertaking. ST23007582/ST23007583

Outstanding warrant arrest 

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested Sunday morning (May 7th) after police were called to the construction project along Talbot Street. A caller reported seeing a suspicious person in the area who may have been in possession of stolen construction material. STPS attended the downtown area and found nothing notable to the callers complaint. However,  a 44 year old St. Thomas resident known to police to have outstanding warrants with our service was located, arrested and released on an undertaking. ST23007598

Store employee assaulted

St. Thomas police are investigating an assault that occurred at a retail store in St. Thomas on Sunday May 7th, 2023. Just before 5 p.m. an alert employee attempted to stop someone who was believed to have been shoplifting from leaving the store. As a result, the employee was punched in the face and the suspect fled on a bicycle. The store employee sustained minor injuries. STPS are reviewing video surveillance to identify the suspect. Warrant for arrest, requested 

A warrant for arrest has been requested by St. Thomas Police after an investigation into an incident of intimate partner violence. Through investigation it was learned that a 31 year St. Thomas resident is to be charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Unlawfully in a Dwelling
  • Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2
  • Criminal Harassment
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition
  • Assault
