St. Thomas, ON- Monday June 17th, 2024

The St. Thomas Police Service exceeds 10,000 calls for service. The milestone was met on June 14th and of this morning, our officers have responded to 10,165 calls for service this year.

Warrant arrests

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday June 13th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident that originally occurred in October of 2023. The individual was processed and released with a future court date. ST24009934

A 32 year old West Elgin resident has been arrested. On Thursday June 13th, 2024, Elgin OPP attended STPS HQ with the individual who was in their custody on the strength of our warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order. The individual was processed and released with a future court date. ST24009957

Vehicle entry

A wallet has been recovered and returned to its rightful owner. On Saturday June 14th 2024, officers on community patrol were flagged down by a business owner on Talbot Street who reported their wallet had just been stolen from their vehicle. Police were able to review CCTV of the incident and identified the individual responsible. The accused was located a short distance away and the wallet was returned. ST24010088

Assault

St. Thomas police are currently investigating an assault. On Sunday June 16th 2024, the victim attended STPS to report the incident that occurred on the south side of the city in the early morning hours. It was reported that while out for a bike ride, the victim was approached and assaulted by two unknown individuals, sustaining minor injuries. This remains under investigation. ST24010097

Theft

A 22 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after an incident in the center of the city last night. Just before midnight, STPS were called to a disturbance involving several parties. Upon arrival, police learned an argument had started after a vehicle owner was alerted to their car being entered and observed the person walking away with their property. The accused had entered several vehicles in the same area. As a result the 22 year old has been charged with two counts of Theft under $5000, two counts of Trespass by Night and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24010156
