Media Release Monday August 19th 2024

Breach of Probation 

A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday August 17th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for nine counts of Breach of Probation in regards to several incidents of communication with an individual they are currently on conditions to not communicate with. The 28 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24014421

Failure to Comply

A 26 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Friday August 16th 2024, the individual was made aware, that due to not completing a court order program, they had been charged with Breach of Recognizance. The 26 year old attended police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24014445/4467

A 71 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Failing to Comply with Release Order after police were contacted in regards to the individual attending an address they are on conditions to not attended. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24014588

Assault, Bodily Harm 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating an assault that took place on Friday August 16th, 2024. Just before 3:30 p.m. STPS were called to the 400 block of Talbot Street by employees of a business who reported a physical altercation had taken place and a victim was in need of medical attention. Upon arrival, police located the victim who was transported to the hospital by EMS to be treated for serious, non-life threatening injury. Police are reviewing video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24014456

RIDE

Approximately 337 vehicles were stopped and their drivers spoken to during a RIDE program in the city, Saturday night. Six alcohol screening devices were administered with no infractions found. STPS wishes to thank the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST24014474

Vehicle Entry

Approximately $1,000 in tools and plumbing supplies have been reported stolen from a vehicle on Manitoba Street sometime in the overnight of Friday August 16th. No damage to the vehicle was reported. This remains under investigation. ST24014546

Mischief

The tires of two vehicles have been reported slashed to police. On Sunday August 18th 2024, officers were called to an address on Fingal Line, within the city limits to investigate the incident. Through investigation, it was learned on two separate occasions two vehicles had their tires slashed. The home is equipped with surveillance and video is being reviewed. ST24014579

Theft

A black iGO E-bike, valued at approximately $2,000 has been reported stolen from an address on Wellington Street. The owner of the bike reports that it was stolen at some point in the over night hours of Saturday August 17th. This remains under investigation. ST24014569

Recovered Bikes

St. Thomas police have recovered two bicycles after a homeowner on Roseberry Place found the bikes on their property early Sunday morning. The bikes can been seen here:

Reported Stolen Vehicle, Recovered

On Sunday August 18th 2024, police were called to investigate the report of a stolen vehicle. It was learned that the vehicle was stolen sometime over the weekend while the owners were away. Through investigation, STPS were notified that a similar vehicle had been located by a neighbouring police service. The owners were notified and recovered their vehicle. ST24014584

Intimate Partner Violence

A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after a disturbance on the northside of the city. On Sunday August 18th 2024, STPS received a 911 call in regards to an argument taking place. Police attended the address of concern and through investigation, learned an verbal altercation between spouses had escalated resulting in minor physical injuries. As result, a 28 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Assault and one count of Attempt Choke. This individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24014621
