Vehicle Entries

St. Thomas Police responded to several vehicle entries over the weekend. STPS reminds our community to ensure vehicles are locked and valuables are removed.

  • A vehicle on Yarwood Street was entered, and a wallet containing personal identification and bank cards was reported stolen. ST24013943
  • A vehicle on Parkview Drive was entered, and approximately $100 worth of gift cards were reported stolen. ST24014053
  • A vehicle on Parkside Drive was entered, and several personal items were reported stolen. Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident. ST24014057
  • A vehicle on Weldon Ave was entered, and the vehicle’s ownership documents were reported stolen. ST24014069
  • A vehicle on Pinafore Crescent was entered, and loose change was reported stolen. ST24014073

Theft

St. Thomas Police are investigating the theft of two e-bikes from an address on Forest Ave. On Saturday, August 10th, 2024, officers were called to the address by the homeowner, who reported that at approximately 5:30 a.m., the bikes, which were locked and secured in the backyard, had been stolen. Since the initial report, one bike has been recovered, with one still outstanding: a 2023 EMMO MONTA-X valued at approximately $6,000. Police are reviewing available CCTV footage of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24013992

A trailer for an electric scooter has been reported stolen. On Saturday, August 10th, 2024, officers attended an address on Parkside Drive to investigate a report of an unknown person who attended the area and removed the trailer sometime during the overnight hours. This remains under investigation. ST24014006

A Hyper 36-volt electric mountain bike has been reported stolen from an address on Wellington Street. The owner contacted police after attending a retail store in the area, parking the bike outside, and returning to find it stolen. STPS are reviewing video surveillance of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24014059

Approximately $40 worth of grocery items have been reported stolen from a grocery store on Talbot Street. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, officers were called by store employees who reported that an unknown individual failed to pay for their items. Police are reviewing images of the suspect as they continue to investigate. ST24014066

Fraud

A local resident is out approximately $24,000 after falling victim to an employment scam. The victim contacted police after several e-transfers were made to the supposed new employer before realizing they had been scammed. This remains under investigation. ST24013976

A local resident is out approximately $1,200 after falling victim to a text message scam. The victim contacted police after sending an e-transfer to someone they believed to be a family member. The individual was sent a link via text message with instructions on how to send the money. This remains under investigation. ST24014022

Protect yourself from fraud. Know the signs of a scam. Many scams and frauds attempt to imitate government services or employers to gain access to your personal and financial information.

It may be a scam if someone:

  • Demands immediate payment
  • Uses threatening language
  • Sends you a link and asks you to click on it
  • Asks for personal or financial information

Break and Enter

Several items, including a drone, have been reported stolen from an address on Walnut Street. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, police were called to investigate a report of a locked shed being entered and property stolen. ST24014061

Clothing and towels have been reported stolen from a trailer on Hepburn Ave. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, STPS were called to investigate the incident, which occurred sometime during the overnight hours. No damage to the trailer was reported. Police are reviewing video surveillance of the incident in an effort to identify the suspect. ST24014081

Warrant Arrest

A 36-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual, who was known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Breach of Probation. The individual was processed and released with a future court date. ST24014111

Failure to Comply

A 20-year-old London resident has been arrested. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual, who was with someone they were under release conditions not to be with. As a result, the 20-year-old was charged with one count of Failure to Comply with a Release Order. The individual was transported to police headquarters, where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24014114
