INCIDENT/EVENT COUNT:

2024 = 15,879 (Sept 06) – on pace to exceed 2023 incident/event totals

2023 = 15,845 (Sept 06) – ANNUAL INCIDENT TOTAL = 22,628

Theft

Property from the front of a business downtown has been reported stolen. On Thursday September 5th 2024, officers were called to the 200 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the front of the business and removing the plants out front. No other damage was reported. Police are reviewing available CCTV as they continue to investigate. ST24015815

Approximately $1,000 of clothing has been reported stolen. On Thursday September 5th 2024, STPS received an online report in relation to the theft that occurred on September 1st from a retail store on Talbot Street. It was reported that an unknown individual attended the store, placed several items in a laundry hamper before leaving the store, failing to pay. Video surveillance of the individual is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST24015869

A 16 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to a convenience store on Talbot Street to investigate a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned the teen attended the store, selected a quantity of alcohol and attempted to leave the store. The 16 year old was charged with one count of Theft under $5,000 and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24015871

Warrant Arrest

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday September 5th 2024, officers attended the Elgin Middlesex Detention Center to process a warrant for Breach of Probation stemming from an incident in August. The 32 year old remains in custody. ST24015817

Assault 

A 54 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to a disturbance at an address on Chestnut Street, Thursday afternoon. Upon arrival, police learned an ongoing neighbour dispute had escalated and resulted in a physical altercation. The 54 year old was charged with one count of Assault and transported police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date ST24015825

In relation to the incident on Chestnut Street, a 41 year old St. Thomas resident has also been charged. Through investigation, police learned the 41 year old had physically assault an individual who had attempted to intervene. Minor injuries were sustained by the victim. The 41 year old was charged with one count of Assault and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24015837

Break and Enter

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a residential break and enter. On Thursday September 5th 2024, police were called to an address on Princess Avenue to investigate the incident. Upon arrival, police spoke with the resident of the address who reported returning home to find a door to the address open and damage to a window. Property including a purse and an e-bike have been reported stolen. Police learned that once inside their residence, an unknown person assault the individual and fled the area. This remains under investigation. ST24015859

Mischief 

Damage to vehicle has been reported to police. On Thursday September 5th 2024, police were called to investigate the report of an unknown person kicking the mirror off of a vehicle at the intersection of Talbot Street and First Avenue. Police are reviewing available CCTV as they continue to investigate. ST24015862

Found Bicycle 

A blue, Hyper E-Ride mountain bike has been turned over to police. The bike was found, without its battery at an address on Talbot Street on Thursday September 5th 2024. If you believe this bike to be yours, please contact 519-631-1224 x 4321 ST24015879
