Warrant arrests
A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday May 31st 2024, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter, when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for Fraud under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, stemming from an incident in September 2023. A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday May 30th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on several outstanding warrants with our service dating back to 2022. The 32 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24008965
Disturbance leads to warrant arrests
At approximately 3:00 a.m. this morning, STPS were called to a disturbance in the downtown core. Upon arrival, police located two individuals who had engaged in an altercation and learned they were both currently wanted on outstanding warrants with our service. As a result, a 38 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. Fire
No injuries were reported as the result of a house fire in the city, last night. At approximately 10:30 p.m. STPS were called to an address on Park Avenue to assist the St. Thomas Fire Department with a working house fire. All occupants were safely outside when police arrived and STFD successfully extinguished the fire. ST24008970
Commercial break and enter
On Thursday May 30th 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m. the St. Thomas Police Service were called to break and enter in progress at a commercial building on Southwick Street. An interactive surveillance system had notified police that the compound and been accessed and two unknown individuals had gained entry to the building. STPS are currently reviewing video surveillance of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24008907
