Media Release Friday March 7th 2025

Impaired Operation

A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. This morning, at approximately 3:30 a.m. officers conducting general patrol in Pinafore Park, located an occupied vehicle at the back of the park. Public parks in the city are closed to use from dusk to dawn and should be vacant. Police approached the vehicle to inform the driver of this. While speaking with the individual, officers determined they were showing signs of impairment. A standard field sobriety test was administered to which the driver performed poorly. The 38 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with Operation while Impaired – Alcohol or Drugs and transported to police headquarters. The accused was additionally charged with Obstruct Peace Officer after initially providing a false name. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. Disturbance – Intimate Partner Violence

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after police were called to a disturbance at a southside apartment building on Thursday night. Just before 9 p.m. police were called to the area to investigate the report of an escalating argument between residents. Upon arrival, officers learned an argument between two individuals had started after the victim sustained injuries from the accused dog, who had bitten them.  The victim sustained additional injuries as the argument escalated and was transported to the hospital by EMS to receive medical attention.

While on the call for service, police were made aware of an argument between the 29 year old accused and their spouse. It was reported that the victim had sustained minor injuries after a verbal dispute between the two had escalated, prior to the original call for service. As a result, the 29 year old has been charged with Assault and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. A warrant for arrest has been requested. This remains under investigation with additional charges pending. ST25003701/3706

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 33 year old Dorchester resident has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm after police were called to an address on the northside of the city, last night. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim had been physically assaulted after a verbal argument with their spouse had escalated. The 33 year old had left the area prior to police arrival. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25003708

Warrant Arrests 

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by our service for Failure to Comply with Release Order has been arrested. On Thursday March 6th 2025, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in. The 29 year old was processed to attend court and was released on an appearance notice. ST25003675/3582

A 43 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 6th 2025, the London Police Service notified STPS that they had the individual in custody on the strength of an outstanding warrant held by our service for Assault, Mischief and Uttering Threats in relation to an incident in December of 2024. Officers attended London and transported the 43 year old to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25003716

Theft Investigations 

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after being identified as the person responsible for separate vehicle entries and theft from vehicles at an address on Curtis Street that was reported police on Thursday. The 29 year old has been charged with Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25003664/3668

On Thursday March 6th, a vehicle entry and theft were reported to police. This entry and theft occurred at separate addresses on Mandeville Road. This remains under investigation. ST25003672/3680

Failure to Comply

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after an investigation into unwanted communication. Through investigation, police learned the accused had been contacting an individual they are on conditions to not communicate with. As a result, the 37 year old has been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order and Breach of Recognizance. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25003666

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 6th 2025, officers on community patrol observed the individual with a person they are on conditions to not communicate with. The 32 year old was charged with:

  • Four counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Probation

While being processed, officers located a quantity of drugs, resulting in the charge of:

  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine

Break and Enter

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of two copper wire spools stolen from a business in the industrial area of the city. On Thursday March 6th 2025, officers were called the address by an employee who reported finding a hole cut through the fence surrounding the property and the wire, gone.
