On Saturday afternoon, officers in the Mitchell Street area were conducting follow-up investigations regarding a previously reported fail to remain collision, when a male approached them.  This same male identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.  After some discussion and procedural steps, the 33 year old Bracebridge man was arrested.  The man has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failing to Report a Collision.  The man was later released with a future court date.  ST24011449

Fail to Remain Investigation

Members of the St. Thomas police service, including it’s K9 unit, were called to the area of Mitchell Street and Hincks Street in the early morning hours of Saturday.  There a white pickup had collided with a hydro pole, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and the hydro pole.  When officer’s arrived on scene, the driver had fled.  Following an extensive search of the area, using police K9, officers were unable locate the driver.  Crews from both the city and Entegrus were on scene for most of the morning ensuring that the area was safe for travel.  Prior to this release crew’s had repaired the damage and deemed the area safe again.  Mitchell Street has been re-opened.  Officers continue to investigate the matter, and anyone with information or video within the area are asked to contact the non-emergency number of the St. Thomas Police 519-631-1224.  ST24011449
