Theft from Vehicle Reported

Officers are investigating after a resident in the city’s south-end reported their vehicle entered sometime overnight on Friday.  The victim reported their vehicle entered, CD’s taken as well as their debit/credit card.  The card was later used at a local convenience store to purchase various goods.  CCTV footage is not yet available, however a suspect was observed using the stolen card.  ST25002582

 

Theft Local Retail Store

Officers are investigating the theft of various goods from a local retail store reported late Saturday afternoon.  Officers were called to the store, after staff had witness an unknown individual attempting to leave the store with a generator.  Staff at the store were able to recover the generator, however the unknown individual was able to flee with other items.  The identity of the individual is unknown, however a witness to the incident was able to obtain a license plate of the vehicle the individual was seen entering prior to leaving.  Footage of the incident was not yet available at the time of release.  ST25002586

 

Assault with a Weapon/Weapons Dangerous

Members of the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) along with the Criminal Investigations Branch, were called to action on Saturday night following a weapons complaint.  Members of these teams, accompanied by uniform personnel responded to the incident shortly after 6:30pm in the city’s south-end.  Officers determined that during an interaction at a residence, one of the individuals involved, was threatened with a weapon that was deemed to be dangerous to the public peace.  A 20yr old  St. Thomas man was taken into custody a short distance from the home following a high risk traffic stop.  The weapon in question was not recovered on the individual at the time of arrest, and a subsequent search warrant was executed at the residence from which he left,  a short time later.  As a result the 20yr old St. Thomas man has been charged with Uttering Threats, Assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and 2 counts of Failing to Comply with a condition of his probation.  The man was held in custody pending an appearance in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court.  ST25002591

 

Intimate Partner Violence

A 19yr old Elgin County resident has been charged following an Intimate Partner Violence investigation.  Shortly after midnight on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a  couple involved in an altercation.  After locating the couple in question, it was determined that one of the individuals has assaulted the other.  As a result the 19yr old was taken into custody and charged with one count of domestic assault.  They were later released from custody with a future court date and conditions to abide by.
