Media release 1st of March 2025

Shoplift:

On the 27th of February 2025 a north end business reported two separate shoplifting incidents. The first occurred on the 26th of February and video had captured a male and female attending the store selecting merchandise before leaving without paying for the items. Video has been provided and photos area attached. The second incident at the same business involved two males who attended the store and stole merchandise on the 27th of February. Video has been provided and photos area attached. Breach of Probation:

On Friday the 28th of February a local citizen contacted the St Thomas Police Service to report that he had been approached and followed by an individual who is currently on a probation order that included conditions of no contact. The 34-year-old St Thomas male was located and arrested, charged with four counts of Breach of Probation and held for weekend video court. Incident ST25003268.

Fail to Comply:

On Friday a 46-year-old female failed to attend the St Thomas Police Service for fingerprints related to a charge of refusal of a roadside screening device from an impaired investigation earlier in the week. The female had been released on an appearance notice at that time that included a court date and the fingerprint date. The female was located, arrested and had her fingerprints taken for both incidents. Charged with failure to comply and released with a future court date. Incident ST25003270.

Mischief:

On Friday afternoon a city employee reported damage to property at the Horton Street Market. A male suspect, wearing dark clothing and a backpack attended in the early morning hours and damaged city property. The incident was captured on video and a request has been made to obtain it. The investigation is continuing. Warrant arrests:

On Friday morning a 42-year-old female attended the Police station for a scheduled fingerprint date on an unrelated charge when it was learned that a second warrant existed for shoplifting. The St Thomas resident was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date. Incident ST25003269.

On Friday morning an officer on general patrol observed a male known to him to be wanted on a current warrant held by our service related to the theft of a motor vehicle. The 29-year-old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to the station. The male was later released on conditions with a future court date. Incident ST25003275.

On Friday afternoon an officer on general patrol observed a 37-year-old male known to them to be wanted on a warrant held by the St Thomas Police Service for breach of probation. The St Thomas resident was arrested and released with a future court date. Incident ST25003287.

On Friday afternoon an officer on general patrol observed a 41-year-old male known to them to be wanted on a bench warrant held by the St Thomas Police Service for obstruct peace officer and criminal code prohibited operation of a motor vehicle. The St Thomas resident was arrested, held for court and later remanded. Incident ST25003291.

On Friday afternoon a 51-year-old male attended the Police station for advice on a unrelated matter when it was learned that a warrant existed for charges related to intimate partner violence. The St Thomas resident was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date. Incident ST25003309.
