Theft:

On Sunday the 4th of August 2024 a resident in the south end contacted the St Thomas Police Department to report the theft of his riding lawnmower. The homeowner awoke to find the mower had been taken from his driveway. The riding mower is red and black with distinctive flames painted on the rear fender. Police are canvassing for video and witnesses in the area. Warrant Arrest:

On Sunday the 4th of August officers on a call for service identified a male party known to them as being wanted on a warrant held by our service. The 35-year-old St Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of the warrant and later released with a future court date.  Incident ST24013545.

Fraud/Scam:

On Sunday evening Police were contacted by a family member reporting that their mother had been victim of an online fraud. The victim had received a phone call she had believed to be from her bank and had been tricked into transferring money to the fraudster(s). The victim is out approximately $15,000.00 due to the fraud and the matter has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations unit. Incident ST24013566.

Shoplift:

On Sunday evening an east end business contacted the St Thomas Police Service to report a male had been in the store and had left without paying for merchandise. Video footage was viewed and officers recognized the male suspect. A warrant is being sought for the arrest of a 38-year-old male from St Thomas for theft under $5000. Incident ST24013578.
