Drug Offences – Two St. Thomas residents have been arrested

Two St. Thomas residents have been arrested after an incident in the downtown core on Thursday May 23rd, 2024.

While on an unrelated call for service in the 500 block of Talbot Street, officers located two individuals actively involved in drug trafficking.

After a short pursuit, the following individuals were arrested:

41 year old Robert Smith was arrested and charged with:

  • one count possession of a scheduled substance – Other
  • one count possession of a scheduled substance – Methamphetamine
  • one count possession of a scheduled substance – Opioid
  • one count failure to comply with probation order
  • one count obstruct police

Smith was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on an appearance notice.

44 year old Richard Talbot was arrested and charged with:

  • one count possession of a scheduled substance the purpose of trafficking  – Methamphetamine
  • one count possession of a scheduled substance the purpose of trafficking  – Opioid
  • one count obstruct police

Talbot was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and held for a morning court appearance and subsequently remanded into custody.
