Andrew M. Bennett Scholarship Award – Recipient Announced

St. Thomas, ONWednesday July 3rd 2024

Makayla Thornton, a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School has been named the recipient of the Andrew M. Bennett Scholarship Award.

The Scholarship Award was created to recognize a local secondary school graduate that displays outstanding academic performance, high levels of commitment, integrity, kindness to others, dedication to teamwork and a compassionate personality to make the world a better place.

Makayla wrote an exceptional essay that demonstrated the qualities that we set out to recognize through this award.  Makayla displays strong leadership qualities and civic-mindedness – both attributes that rise to the qualities we expect from our police officers.

Makayla will be attending Carleton University in September pursuing her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology with a concentration in psychology.  We wish Makayla all the best as she prepares for these next important steps in her academic life.

Today, with members of Police Services Board and the Executive Leadership Team Makayla was presented her scholarship.

Congratulations.
