Vehicle Entry

A St. Thomas resident’s wallet was stolen from his vehicle after an unknown suspect smashed a window to gain access. The vehicle was parked in a public lot in the north end while the resident was out for a morning walk on Friday. The wallet contained several pieces of ID, as well as debit and credit cards. Shoplift

A 42-year-old St. Thomas man, well-known to police, has been identified as the suspect in a shoplifting incident on Friday afternoon at a local grocery store. The suspect selected approximately $168 worth of items and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by a store employee, the suspect returned some of the items and then fled on foot. As a result, the suspect is charged with Theft Under $5000, Fail to Comply with Probation, and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. A warrant will be applied for. ST25003772.

Warrant Arrests

On Friday afternoon, while conducting a general patrol in the downtown core, officers located a 20-year-old male well-known to police. A query revealed that the male was wanted on a first instance warrant for failing to comply with probation. The male was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and later released with a future court date.ST25003776.

Early on Friday evening, the STPS requested members of the Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to attend an address in Dorchester to inform a 33-year-old male of a warrant for his arrest related to an intimate partner violence incident. The OPP attended the location, arrested the male, and later released him on an Undertaking with conditions.ST25003783.

Later Friday evening, during a general patrol, officers stopped a cyclist for Highway Traffic Act infractions. The cyclist initially provided a false name, but police quickly determined his true identity. Further investigation revealed that the 56-year-old man was wanted on warrants held by both the OPP and the STPS. One of the STPS warrants was a committal warrant related to several provincial offence convictions. As a result, the man was transported directly to the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre to carry out his sentence.ST25003789.

At 1:30 AM on Saturday morning, police located a 35-year-old St. Thomas man wanted on a first instance warrant for failing to comply with probation. The man was arrested without incident and subsequently released with a future court date. ST25003799.

Attempted Robbery

On Friday evening at approximately 8:30 PM, two unknown male suspects attempted to steal a bicycle from a St. Thomas resident. The suspects grabbed the bicycle while the victim was riding it, leading to a physical altercation. The victim successfully defended himself and managed to escape with his bicycle. Assault with a Weapon

A 25-year-old St. Thomas resident was assaulted with a box cutter at an apartment in the north end of the city. The victim was visiting a neighbor when several unknown individuals confronted him, accusing him of a previous assault. During the altercation, one of the suspects held a box cutter to the victim’s throat. Fortunately, the victim was not injured. Home Invasion

In the early hours of Saturday morning, an unknown male suspect entered a residence in the northwest end of the city and assaulted two male residents with a metal pipe. The victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police believe the assault was targeted and there is no risk to public safety at this time.
