St. Thomas, ON – January 10th, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The St. Thomas Police Service is alarmed to report that, for the third consecutive day this week, one of our officers has been assaulted while responding to a call for service. This trend highlights the increasing risks faced by frontline officers as they work to protect our community.
In the first week of 2025 alone, three officers have been subjected to physical violence while performing their duties. These incidents have occurred during routine calls including family disputes, unwanted persons and intimate partner violence calls where officers were providing assistance to the public.
“Our officers put themselves in harm’s way every day to ensure the safety and well-being of our community,” said Chief of Police, Marc Roskamp. “The rise in violence against our officers is unacceptable and deeply concerning. These incidents serve as a reminder of the dangers our members face, each and every day.”
The St. Thomas Police Service is committed to ensuring the safety of its members while maintaining a high standard of service to the public and thanks for community for their ongoing support and cooperation.
