St. Thomas, ON – Monday September 11th 2023
26 year old, Hannah Arnison has been arrested and charged after an incident that occurred Sunday evening.
Arnison, the suspect identified by police as the person responsible for taking approximately $288 worth of purses from a retail store at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday was located Sunday night at approximately 11:30 p.m. while officers were responding to an unrelated call for service. At the time, Arnison was actively attempting to leave the scene as officers attempted to place her under arrest.
During the arrest process, Arnison resisted and refused repeated orders to remove her hands from her outer coat pockets. In the course of attempting to gain control of the situation, an altercation ensued, during which Arnison assaulted the arresting officer by punching them twice in the head with a closed fist. The was able to bring the situation under control without further incident.
As a result, Arnison has been charged with:
1 count Theft under $5,000
1 count Fail to Comply with Probation
1 count Resist a Peace Officer
1 count Assault a Peace Officer
Arnison was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters to be processed, later released on an undertaking with a future court date.
