Theft
St. Thomas Police are investigating after a fifty four year old woman reported her oxygen tank stolen. The woman had walked from her residence on St. George Street to the Circle K convenience store at the west end of Talbot St around 3 am Thursday morning (may 9th). The woman left her oxygen tank in a black carrying case outside beside the door while making her purchases. When she came out the tank was gone. Domestic Assault
A twenty seven year old male is wanted after police received a report of a domestic assault that occurred earlier last week. The man is alleged to have had a verbal argument with his twenty four year old girlfriend that became physical. The man is wanted for one count of Domestic Assault and three counts Breach of Release Conditions. The man is already at large in the community released on court ordered conditions not to associate/communicate or attend the residence of the female. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Arrest
Twenty nine year old Joshua Marcotte of St. Thomas was arrested Thursday May 9th after investigators linked him to a break and enter that occurred over the previous weekend. A construction area at the intersection of First Ave and Edward St. had seven hundred dollars worth of copper piping stolen sometime between Friday May 3rd and Monday May 6th. Investigators identified Marcotte as the suspect and arrested him on Talbot St near Centennial Ave. During a search, Officers located some of the stolen copper, two stolen ID’s and a few hundred dollars in cash believed to have been proceeds from the sale of the stolen copper. As a result Marcotte is charged four counts Possession of Stolen Property, two counts Trafficking Stolen Property, one count Possession of Proceeds of Crime and one count Fraud. Marcotte was held in custody at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for Court.
Youth Arrested
A sixteen year old wanted on a warrant for one count of Theft Under $5000 was arrested Friday May 10th around 1:30 pm. The warrant stems from an incident back in April where the youth was recorded on security video shoplifting from The Real Canadian Superstore. Officers located a small amount of Cannabis during the arrest and issued the youth a fine under the Cannabis Control Act for Possession of Cannabis Under 19 Years of Age. The youth was later released on a Promise to Appear in Youth Court.
Arrest
A forty seven year old St. Thomas woman was arrested by Officers Sunday morning. The woman was wanted in connection to a domestic assault that occurred Friday May 10th. The woman is alleged to have shown up at the residence of her former boyfriend and assaulted him. The man suffered a bloody lip and scratched face. The woman was charged one count of Domestic Assault and released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Theft
A sixty six year old St. Thomas man was arrested Friday afternoon around 3:30 pm after being observed shoplifting by staff at the Home Hardware Store. Officers took the man into custody without incident and recovered a utility knife the man had taken out of the packaging and concealed in his coat pocket. He was charged one count Theft Under $5000 and released on an Appearance Notice for Court.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere
Officers from the St. Thomas Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E spot check on Friday night around 10 pm. Approximately eighty drivers were stopped and one road side screening device for alcohol was administered. The driver registered a pass. One fine was issued to a driver for failing to have proper headlights.
Warrant
A thirty two year old St. Thomas man wanted on a warrant by Sarnia Police was arrested early Saturday morning around 2:30 am. STPS Officers were dealing with the male on an unrelated matter on Talbot Street near Horton when they discovered he was wanted. The man was taken into custody without incident and transferred to the Sarnia Police Service for processing.
Warrant
A thirty eight year old Woodstock woman wanted on a warrant by St. Thomas Police was arrested in Tillsonburg on Saturday. The bench warrant was issued after the woman failed to attend court to answer to charges that stem from an incident back in February of 2018 where she was charged with one count Theft Under $5000, one count escape lawful custody and one count Breach of Release Conditions. O.P.P. officers were dealing with the woman on an unrelated matter when they discovered she was wanted. She was taken into custody without incident and transferred to STPS for processing. The woman was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Warrant
A thirty six year old St. Thomas man was arrested on a warrant early Sunday morning around 12:30 am on Talbot Street. The man was wanted on a bench warrant after failing to attend court to answer to the charge of Theft Under $5000. The theft charge stems from an incident back in April of 2018 where the man is alleged to have stolen two laptops from a downtown homeless shelter. He was taken into custody without incident and later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Warrant
Forty seven year old Shawn Hurl was arrested by Officers after a short foot chase Sunday morning around 11:30 am. Officers spotted Hurl walking through a parking lot near Centre and Hinks Street. Hurl took off running however officers caught up with him a short block away. A warrant for Hurl was issued after he failed to attend court to answer to charges of Forcible Confinement, Assault and Breach of Release Conditions from an incident back in March. Hurl was held in custody at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for Court.
Warrant
Police are looking for a thirty four year old St. Thomas man after learning he was not living at his residence during a compliance check. The man was released on court conditions to reside at a particular residence and to notify STPS within twenty four hours of any change. Officers attended the address to find he had not lived there for a few weeks. The man is also wanted after he was recorded on security video stealing a pair of work boots from inside a vehicle parked at a manufacturing plant.
