On Saturday, June 9th, 2018 St. Thomas Police arrested a 33 year old St. Thomas man for weapons dangerous to the public peace. At approximately 7:00 pm the accused and a man known to him became involved in an argument on Talbot Street. The accused then pulled a knife on the victim who fled. A short time later later the victim returned to speak to the accused and the argument escalated and started to become physical until the accused pulled out the knife for a second time and made threatening gestures with it towards the victim. The males then began to square off to fight just as an alert police officer driving by observed the disturbance. The officer approached the males and ordered the accused to drop the knife. The accused was subsequently arrested without incident and taken into police custody. Further investigation revealed that the accused was on probation as well as a recognizance with a condition not to possess weapons. He is now facing numerous charges including assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, breach of probation and fail to comply. The man was remanded into custody.
