Warrant

Thirty six year old Darren Brown of no fixed address was arrested Wednesday night on Talbot Street.  Officers on Community Patrol recognized him as being wanted on a warrant.  The warrant was issued after he was identified as the suspect recorded on store security video stealing several tools from Walmart. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  He was charged with Theft Under $5000 and released on an Undertaking with court date. ^10424

Vehicle Entry

A vehicle parked on Erie Street was entered sometime Wednesday night.  An empty cell phone box was reported stolen.  Please remember to lock your vehicles and take valuables inside.^10486

Two vehicles parked on Sunset Drive were entered sometime Wednesday night.  A wallet containing debit, credit and identification cards was stolen from one vehicle and a carton of cigarettes was taken from the other.  Please remember to lock your vehicle and take valuables inside. ^1506

Warrant

Twenty five year old Jaydan Claus of no fixed address was arrested Thursday at the Elgin County Courthouse.  Claus attended the location on an unrelated matter when security recognized him as being wanted on a warrant.  The bench warrant was issued after he failed to attend his scheduled court date to answer to charges of possession of stolen property. He was taken into custody without incident for processing and held for a bail court appearance.  ^10487

Stolen Bike

Police are investigating after a bike was stolen from the front of Sunset Dental Clinic on Talbot Street.  The bike was stolen between 11 – 11:45 am Thursday.  The lock securing the bike had been cut. Mischief to Property

A teen was arrested and charged Thursday night following a disturbance at a private residence.  The teen is alleged to have damaged property inside the home during an argument. The teen was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  The youth charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000 and fined for possession Cannabis under age then released into the custody of an adult with an Appearance Notice for Youth Court. ^10540

Food Fraud

Police are investigating after two men walked out of a Talbot Street Restaurant without paying their bill Thursday night.  ^10544

Licence Suspended

A nineteen year old novice driver had his licence suspended for three days Thursday night during a traffic stop.  The young driver was stopped after Officers on Community Patrol observed his vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.  Police suspected the driver was under the influence and issued a roadside screening.  The driver registered in the warning range which indicates his blood alcohol concentration was above .50 but below .80.  An automatic three day suspension was issued and he was fined for being a novice driver with alcohol present in his system.  ^10550
