Wanted

A fifty six year old man of no fixed address is wanted by police after being identified as the suspect recorded on security video writing derogatory messages on the steps of city hall using a black marker.   The man is wanted for one count of Mischief Under $5000. ^16157

Warrant

A twenty one year old London woman wanted on a warrant was arrested Thursday after she turned herself in at the Colin McGregor Building.  A bench warrant was issued for her arrest after she failed to attend her scheduled court date to answer to assault charges from back in 2020.  She was taken into custody without incident for processing and later released on an undertaking with court date. ^16234

Break and Enter

Police are investigating after a shed located behind a home on Arthur Ave near Redan was broken into Wednesday night.  Nothing was reported stolen however the suspect was seen running through backyards on Woodworth Ave and  stole a pail of gardening tools.  If you have any information about this incident or saw anything suspicious in the area please contact STPS at 519-631-1224 or www.stthomas-elgincrimestoppers.ca Refer to case #ST22016248

Refusal

A fifty four year old St. Thomas man was arrested during a traffic stop Thursday.  Officers on Community Patrol pulled the car over and suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol.  The driver was uncooperative and would not provide a breath sample.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  He was charged with the criminal offence of Refusal.  His license was suspended for 90 days and he was released on an Undertaking with Court Date. ^16255

Theft

Police are investigating after two catalytic converters were stolen off vehicles parked in the parking lot of a vehicle repair shop on Edward Street near Centennial Ave.  The theft took place sometime this week between Monday and Thursday.  If you have any information about this theft or saw anything suspicious in the area please contact STPS at 519-631-1224 or submit a tip at www.stthomas-elgincrimestoppers.ca Refer to case #ST22016257

Vehicle Entry

A vehicle parked in the lane way of a home on Metcalfe Street near Wellington Street was entered sometime Tuesday night.  Loose change was reported stolen.  Please remember to lock your vehicles and take valuables inside.  ^16261

Youths Charged

A thirteen year old has been arrested and charged with Assault and a twelve year old has been arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon (knife) following an afterschool disturbance in a park where another twelve year old was targeted and assaulted.  The youths were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  They were later released into the custody of an adult on Youth Undertakings and will appear in Youth Court at a later date to answer to the charges.  Minor injuries were reported. ^16262

Impaired Operation

A fifty four year old St. Thomas man was arrested Thursday after police were called to a Collision on Applewood Crescent.  A driver had sideswiped a parked vehicle eventually coming to a stop on the curb.  Officers on Community Patrol suspected the man was impaired by drug and took him into custody.  He was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was examined by a Drug Recognition Expert Officer who confirmed he was impaired by drug.  He was charged with Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and Drug.  He was released on an Undertaking with court date. ^16279

Warrant

A nineteen year old St. Thomas man was arrested Thursday night after he turned himself in at the Colin McGregor Building. A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he was alleged to have assaulted a man with a hammer during a neighbour dispute.  He was taken into custody without incident for processing and charged with Assault with a Weapon. He was later released on an Appearance Notice for court. ^16288
