Fraud

A forty eight year old St. Thomas woman is out $25,000 after falling victim to a romance scam.  The woman met a man through facebook and began an online relationship.  The man repeatedly asked for money over a six month period receiving several smaller transfers.  Just before the man was to fly to Toronto so the couple could meet in person, the woman received a message indicating that the man had been kidnapped overseas and needed $20,000 to be released.  The woman realized she had been scammed and contacted police. Break and Enter

Break and Enter

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

Mischief

Forty year old Shawn Fisher of no fixed address was arrested Monday afternoon on Talbot Street near Princess Ave.  Officers on Community Patrol observed Fisher yelling at passing traffic, throwing objects a vehicles and writing on a nearby door with a black sharpie.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  He was charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000, Cause a Disturbance and four count Breach of Release Conditions.  He was held in custody for a bail court appearance.  ^14663

Break and Enter

Police are investigating a break and enter to Canden Tech located at 364 Talbot Street. Disturbance Leads to Arrest

A twenty one year old man and an eighteen year old female were arrested Monday night after Officers on Community Patrol were called to a disturbance.  The man was found breaching his release conditions by associating and communicating with the female he had been prohibited from.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  He was charged with one count of breach and released on an Undertaking.  Police also discovered the female was wanted on a warrant by Waterloo Regional Police.  The female was also transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing and later released on an Appearance Notice for court. ^14713

Domestic Assault

A twenty five year old St. Thomas woman was arrested after Officers on Community Patrol responded to a disturbance.  The woman is alleged to have assaulted her partner during an argument.  She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  She was charged with one count of assault and later released on an Undertaking with court date.  Non life threatening injuries were reported and the partner was taken to St Thomas Elgin General Hospital by ambulance. ^14716
