Two Impaired Driver's Apprehended Overnight

Officers apprehended two separate impaired driver’s on Saturday night after being alerted by members of the public.  The first impaired driver, a 62 year old Southwold man, was arrested shortly after 7 pm after receiving complaints from members of the public.  Officers located the man operating his vehicle in the city’s west end.  The man was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  After providing 2 samples of breath the male registered readings of 150 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood. He was later released with a future court date.
The second incident was reported to police by a local establishment around 1:15 am.  Staff members reported to police seeing a 39 year old Toronto man getting into his vehicle in the parking lot and appearing to be under the influence.  When officers arrived on scene the man was given a Roadside Screening Device and failed.    He was subsequently arrested and charged with having in excess of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood.  At the station the man provided breath samples resulting in readings of 180 and 170 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood.  The man was released from custody with a future court date.
In both instances their driver’s licenses have been suspended for a period of 90 days and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.
