Threats/Assault/ Break & Enter

Threats
On Tuesday December 25, 2018 at around 7:20 p.m. police were called to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Emergency Department with regards to issues they were having with a patient. A 27 year old man had entered the hospital and demanded to be treated immediately. When he was informed by staff that it would be a few minutes, the male began to bang and pull on the triage door. The male also made a verbal threat towards staff, where he suggested that he had a weapon that he was willing to use. Investigation revealed that the male was not in possession of a weapon and he made the comment in an attempt to intimidate hospital staff to see him faster. After being treated, the male was arrested and charged with one count of Uttering Threats, one count of Public Mischief and one count of Breach of Probation. The accused was later released with a future court date.
Assault
The St. Thomas Police responded to a domestic dispute that occurred on December 26th at around 11:30 p.m. A 56 year old female and her 60 year old husband were involved in a heated argument that turned physical. The male was struck in the face by his wife which left a small red mark under his right eye. As a result the 56 year old female was arrested by police and charged with one count of Assault. The accused was later released with conditions and a future court date. The male victim did not require any medical attention.
Break & Enter
On December 27, 2018 at around 5:00 a.m. police were dispatched to a break and enter at a south end sports bar. The owner of the establishment had found a lock on one of their rear storage sheds had been cut and the storage shed had been entered. They found that numerous cases of beer and coolers had been removed from the shed. A search of the area resulted in the majority of the items being located stacked near the rear fence behind the establishment. It appears the suspects may have been interrupted or scared off before they were able to load all of the stolen alcohol. At this time the only outstanding items appears to be one case of 24 Budweiser cans and one case of 24 Bud Light cans. The break-in occurred sometime between Wednesday December 26th at 2:00 p.m. and the morning of Thursday December 27th when the insecure shed was discovered. If you have any information about this incident please call the St. Thomas Police at 519-631-1224 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.  Refer to Case # ST18018684.
