STPS Up 649 Incident From Last Year

STPS Officers Responded to Sixty Four Incidents in Last 24 Hours.  Call trackers indicates the St. Thomas Police Service is up six hundred and forty nine calls from this date last year putting the service ahead of 2018’s record breaking number of incidents.
Arrest
A forty year old woman and a thirty eight year old man both of St. Thomas were arrested yesterday morning around 11 am after they were observed going inside a vacant home on Trafalgar Street.  Once police arrived it was determined that the pair had no connection to the residence and no permission to be inside.  They were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for processing.  The woman was charged one count Unlawfully in a Dwelling and two counts Breach of Release Conditions.  She was held for a court appearance.  The man was charged one count Unlawfully in a Dwelling and released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Bike Theft

Warrant
A twenty six year old St. Thomas man was arrested last night around 7 pm on Talbot Street after officers recognized him as being wanted on a warrant for breaching his release conditions.  He was taken into custody without incident and held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for bail court.  The man has been charged with Breach of Release thirty six times in 2019.
Shoplift
A fifty nine year old St. Thomas man was arrested last night around 7:30 pm after staff at a local hardware store observed the man hiding merchandise in a reusable shopping bag.  The man was arrested by staff as he walked out of the store without paying for the items.  Police attended and charged the man with one count Theft Under $5000 and one count Breach of Release Conditions.  Three hundred dollars worth of goods were recovered and returned to the store.  The man taken to the Colin MCGregor Justice Building for processing and later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
