STPS Media Release Saturday April 16, 2022

On April 15, 2022, Police were called to a church on Manor Rd in response to a large fire. Police and Fire attended and discovered a large group of bushes beside the church completely ablaze. The fire was extinguished but not before the windows of the church were damaged. Video surveillance captured a female fleeing the scene before emergency services arrived. The female was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Colin McGregor Building to be held for a court appearance. ^5482

During the early hours of April 16, 2022, police were called to a residence on Princess Ave after an unknown male forced open the door to the residence, made his way to the bedroom, and laid down in the bed beside the homeowner. Police attended and located fifty year-old Shawn Hurl. Hurl was arrested and charged with Mischief and Unlawfully in a Dwelling. He was later released with a future court date. ^5518

Less than two hours following Shawn Hurl’s release, police were called to an address on Elm St for reports of an unwanted person. Police attended and located Shawn Hurl as he was leaving the address. While police watched, Hurl crossed the street, kicked open a door to an office building, and entered. Hurl was arrested without incident and transported to the police station to be held in custody for court. ^5519

Sometime between noon on April 15th and the early morning of April 16th, a 2001 blue Chevrolet Silverado 2500 was stolen from a business in the industrial area. The licence plate number attached is AJ95904. The truck has a few distinguishing features: an outline of a previous decal on both sides of the truck box, a sizable dent on the passenger side of the truck box, a snow plow attachment (no plow), and the front Chevrolet logo is painted blue. The truck is similar to the one pictured.
