STPS Media Release – Monday, August 1st, 2022.

On 31July/22 at approximately 3:30pm the Strathroy Caradoc Police Service arrested 38-year-old Joseph Rychel on the strength of an arrest warrant out of Strathroy. St. Thomas Police later took custody of this male on the strength of a St. Thomas Police warrant. This male was held in custody for a morning court appearance.

On 31July/22 at approximately 7pm St. Thomas police officers attended Walmart located at 1063 Talbot Street regarding an alleged theft. As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Nicolas Derbowka was arrested and charged with theft not exceeding $5000 as well as two counts of failing to comply with his probation order. This male was later released with a future court date and conditions.

On 31July/22 at approximately 7:20pm St. Thomas police officers were at Walmart regarding a theft investigation. A bicycle that had been reported stolen on 11July/22 from the downtown area was located at Walmart and returned to the rightful owner. This bicycle was a red GT Aggressor with a small frame. On 31July/22 at approximately 8:15pm St. Thomas police officers attended the Real Canadian Superstore located at 1063 Talbot Street regarding an alleged theft of a bicycle. Investigation revealed that a 7-year-old burgundy Specialized mountain bike was stolen from the front of the store. No picture available at this time. ST22012000.

On 01Aug/22 at approximately 12:30am St. Thomas police officers attended the rear of 555 Talbot Street regarding a dumpster fire. The St. Thomas Fire Service attended and promptly extinguished the fire. This matter is still under investigation. ST22012016.

On 01Aug/22 at approximately 2am St. Thomas police officers attended the Circle K store located at 287 Talbot Street regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival police arrested 32-year-old Aaron Watt on the strength of a St. Thomas Police warrant. Further investigation revealed that this male had a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl in his possession therefore he was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a probation order. This male was held in custody for a morning court appearance.
