STPS Media Release for Saturday June 4, 2022

On Friday June 3rd a St. Thomas woman reported being sexually assaulted overnight at a residence in the City. The Criminal Investigations Branch led the investigation with the assistance of uniform patrol and following the execution of a search warrant, a 28 year old male was taken into custody. The male was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was processed and later released on an Undertaking with a future court date. ^8314

Police are currently investigating the theft of approximately $1600 in trading cards from Walmart. The incident occurred on June 1st and a male suspect was captured on video leaving in a black SUV. A vehicle parked in a driveway on Churchill Cr was entered sometime Thursday night. A wallet containing identification and credit cards was reported stolen. Please remember to lock your vehicles and to take all valuables inside. ^8321

On June 3, 2022, an alert citizen contacted police to report a wanted male was inside a local department store. Police quickly attended the area and located 32 year old Anthony James ‘AJ’ MIZON. MIZON was arrested on the strength of 8 warrants for a total of 40 charges. In addition, MIZON was in possession of a prohibited weapon and was found to be breaching several conditions of his current release. In addition to the 40 charges, MIZON is also charged with 2 x Fail to Comply with Release Order, 2 x Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Possess Weapon while Prohibited, and Possess Prohibited Device. MIZON was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was held for court and remanded into custody.

On the evening of June 3, 2022, police were called to a residential area near the St. Anne’s Community Festival for reports of an assault. Police attended and spoke to two teenage females who reported being assaulted by an unknown male following an argument. As a result of this investigation, a 36 year old male was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault. He was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was processed and later released on an Undertaking with a future court date. ^8378
