Theft
St. Thomas Police are investigating after four cannabis plants were stolen from the back yard of a Curtis Street home sometime overnight Saturday. The plants were approximately six feet tall at the time of the theft. Domestic Assault
A sixty eight year old St. Thomas man was arrested after attacking his sixty three year old common law with a hammer early Saturday morning around 8 am. Police were called to the couples residence where they found the man and woman in the lane way. The man was taken into custody without incident and the woman was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. The man has been charged one count Assault with a Weapon, one count Aggravated Assault and one count Breach of Court Order. The man had a court imposed weapons prohibition from a previous incident. The man was held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for court and remanded into custody. Police executed a search warrant at the address later the same day to gather evidence.
Impaired by Drug
A forty three year old man from Sombra was arrested Saturday night around 7 pm after a concerned citizen called police to report an erratic driver. Officers pulled the driver over on Wellington Street near CASO Crossing and discovered he was Impaired. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for processing. Officers did not detect alcohol however a Drug Recognition Expert confirmed the driver was impaired by drug. Police seized a small quantity of Purple Fentanyl from the man during the arrest. The man was charged Criminally with one count Impaired Operation by Drug and one count Drug Possession – Fentanyl. The man was also summonsed for driving while suspended and using a cell phone. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in court.
Warrant
A thirty eight year old St. Thomas man was arrested Saturday night around 10 pm on St. George Street. Officers were dealing with the man on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted on warrants by both St. Thomas Police and the London Police Service. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building where he was charged with two counts Breach of Probation. After being released by STPS on a Promise to Appear in court the man was transferred to London for further processing.
Bike Theft
St. Thomas Police are investigating after a bike was stolen from the bike rack at the front of the Food Basics Store on Talbot Street Saturday night between 4:30 and 8:30 pm. The bike is described as a red, black and blue mountain bike. The lock was cut and left at the bike rack at the time of the theft. Arrest
A twenty three year old Springfield man was arrested early Sunday morning around 2:30 am after he was kicked out of a party. The man was heavily intoxicated and knocked on several doors in the Balaclava/Nolan Street area asking for help. Police located the man and took him into custody without incident. He was taken to the Colin McGregor Justice Building where he was charged with three counts Breach of Release Conditions and held for court. The man was released into the community by the courts earlier this summer on several conditions after being charged with Impaired Driving and Vehicle Theft.
Wanted
A thirty five year old Port Stanley woman is wanted on a warrant by the St. Thomas Police Service after she failed to appear at the Colin McGregor Justice Building to have her finger prints taken. The woman had been arrested by STPS back in August and charged with Fraud, Theft and Breach. At the time of the offence the woman was released on a Promise to Appear in court with conditions to have her fingerprints taken September 24th.
Thieves Hit Balaclava Street
Police are investigating after three parked vehicles were entered on Balaclava Street near Edward sometime overnight on Saturday. Items stolen include a laptop, cheque book, cash, GPS unit and sunglasses. Other items of no value were found strewn between houses on the street. Police are investigating after a STIHL concrete saw valued at $1300 was stolen from the back of a pickup truck parked on Steeplechase Court sometime overnight on Saturday. Arrest
A twenty eight year old St. Thomas man was arrested Sunday evening around 5 pm on St. Catharine Street near Talbot. The man was wanted after stealing cash from his parents home over the weekend. He was taken into custody without incident. Police seized two hundred dollars worth of illicit drugs from the man during the arrest. He is charged two counts Drug Possession and one count Theft Under $5000.
Warrant
A twenty year old St. Thomas woman is wanted on a warrant by police. The woman attended the apartment of her twenty one year old ex boyfriend on Sunday while he was not home and damaged property inside. She is charged one count Mischief to Property Under $5000.
