SIU Terminates Investigation

On May 24th, 2018 at the request of Chief Chris Herridge, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was contacted after the St. Thomas Police received a complaint about an incident that occurred on May 23rd where a twenty six year old St. Thomas male was injured during his arrest on an outstanding warrant.
Members of the SIU attended St. Thomas to commence their investigation on May 24th.  On July 5th, 2018 The St. Thomas Police Service was notified that the investigation had been terminated.
The Special Investigations Unit is the civilian oversight agency responsible for investigating circumstances involving police that have resulted in a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault of a civilian in Ontario.
