Second Arrest Made in Stolen Truck Investigation

Second Arrest
The thirty six year old St. Thomas woman wanted in connection to a stolen vehicle has turned herself in to police.  A warrant was issued for the woman on Wednesday July 18th after she was observed by officers travelling in a black GMC Sierra pick up truck that had been reported stolen to London Police earlier the same week.  The woman turned herself in yesterday around 10:30 am at the Colin McGregor Justice Building and was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.  She is facing one count of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.
Assault at Rooming House
A twenty five year old St. Thomas man has been arrested after he assaulted a thirty seven year old staff member at a downtown rooming house.  The staff member was trying to enforce a no smoking policy when he was punched.  No injuries were reported and the resident was taken into custody without incident.  He is now charged with one count of Assault and was released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Judge Issues Warrant
A forty one year old St. Thomas woman was taken into custody after a Judge issued a warrant for her arrest.  The woman had been originally arrested for shoplifting and charged with one count of Theft Under $5000 back on June 15th.  At that time she was released by officers on an Appearance Notice for court.  The woman did not attend her scheduled court appearance on July 13th resulting in the issue of a warrant.  Yesterday she turned herself in to police at the Colin McGreogor Justice Building where she was held in custody and transferred to the court house for her appearance.
License Plate leads to Charges
A twenty year old man from Mossley, Ontario has been charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision by St. Thomas Police.  The incident began just after 1 am this morning when a Churchill Crescent resident contacted police after hearing what sounded like a motor vehicle collision.  When officers arrived they observed tire marks indicating a vehicle had been travelling northbound on Churchill when it left the roadway, jumped the curb and plowed down two street signs before continuing down the street.  The front license plate from the vehicle and a piece of bumper were located at the scene.  Several minutes later during communications with the Ontario Provincial Police it was discovered that OPP Officers had the same vehicle stopped and the male driver in custody for Impaired Driving Offences just East of the City Limits.  STPS Officers attended the Elgin County Detachment and charged the driver with the offence of Fail to Remain in addition to the OPP charges he is also facing.
