Santa Clause Parade
The Optimist Club of St Thomas will be hosting the annual Santa Clause Parade today starting at 6pm. The route this year will be from Talbot Street at First Ave and will continue west along Talbot Street to Elgin Street. Side streets will be closed using barricades leading up to the parade and motorists are reminded that there is no parking along Talbot Street. We are also asking motorists to avoid Talbot Street immediately following the parade so that the barricades can be removed quickly and safely.
Stuff the Cruiser
The St Thomas Police Association Stuff the Cruiser Event is continuing today. Officers were at the Superstore and Walmart locations last night collecting food, toys, gift cards and cash which will be donated to Christmas Care.
Today, we will be back out at the Superstore and Walmart between 10am and 4pm. Come out and visit with our officers and support our toy drive!
Scam Alert
On November 16th, 2018, the St Thomas Police were alerted to a potential scam. Two males were in the downtown area attempting to sell gold rings on the street in exchange for cash. They claim they need to pay for gas in order to return home to Montreal. Both males were dressed in suits and possibly driving a silver Ford Taurus. This is the second time these fraudsters have come into our city, each time fleeing the area just before officers arrive. They are using rental cars in fake names making it difficult to track the suspects. The best defense is to be aware of the latest scams in town and to protect yourself.
