Robbery
Detectives from the St. Thomas Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch are investigating an early morning robbery that occurred Tuesday around 5:30 am on a trail that runs between Athletic Park and Hiawatha Street. The victim was walking eastbound approaching Hiawatha Street around 5:30 am when an unknow male suddenly appeared holding a knife to the victims neck and demanded his cell phone. The victim was cut as he pushed the suspect to escape. The victim ran from the suspect and was helped by a citizen on Hiawatha Street. The victim was taken to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as approximately 6′ tall, thin build, light skin, a short beard that gets longer towards his chin and a little bit of grey, a long nose and thin lips. The suspect was wearing a dark hat possibly with a Nike swoosh on it and a spring coat that appears poofy. Theft
Police are investigating after the tap feature on a lost debit card was used for several purchases from convenience stores along Talbot Street. It is unknown where exactly the debit card was lost or when. The owner realized it was missing after seeing unusual purchases online. Officers on Community Patrol are hoping to locate video of the suspect making the purchases. ^15244
Vehicle Entered
Police are investigating after a city bus was entered sometime over the weekend. The bus was parked in the lot behind the terminal on Talbot near Moore Street. Documents were reported stolen. Warrant
Forty seven year old Jason Young of no fixed address was arrested Tuesday. Young was wanted on a warrant by the St. Thomas Police Service for thirteen counts of being in possession of stolen property. London Police were dealing with Young on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing. He was later released on an Appearance Notice for court. ^15251
Stolen Bike
A purple Triumph Laser mountain bike was stolen around 11:30 pm Tuesday night after being left outside an establishment on Talbot Street near St. Catharine. Warrant
Thirty seven year old Stephen Howarth of no fixed address was arrested Tuesday afternoon on Princess Ave. Officers from the Downtown Beat Patrol Unit were dealing with Howarth on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted on a bench warrant. The warrant was issued after he failed to attend his scheduled court date to answer to theft and mischief charges. He was taken into custody without incident for processing and later released on an Appearance Notice for court. ^15266
Impaired
A forty eight year old London woman was arrested and charged with several offences following a collision on Scott Street Tuesday afternoon around 4:30 pm. The woman lost control of her vehicle and struck a parked car. Officers on Community Patrol suspected the woman was under the influence of drugs. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building where a Drug Recognition Expert Officer confirmed she was impaired by drug. The driver was charged with Operation While Impaired – Drug, Drive Motor Vehicle Without a License, Drive No Insurance, Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner. She was later release on an Undertaking with court date. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. ^15274
