Property Crime Alert

St. Thomas Police are reminding residents to be diligent when protecting their personal property. Several daytime break and enters have been reported in the region with similar entry methods. It appears that thieves are targeting homes in busy neighbourhoods. Thieves check occupancy by knocking or ringing the doorbell. When there is no answer they then proceed to a side or back door and walk in or pry open the door to gain entry. Please always lock your doors and windows if you are not at home. Deadbolt style locks are best. A home video security system is definitely a deterrent.
